Walter Gehringer watched B.C.’s wine industry grow from nothing.

In 1981, Gehringer and his brother founded one of the first estate wineries in the province on the ridges of the Okanagan River. At the time, B.C. wine was a fledgling enterprise. Gehringer said most major wineries imported their grapes from other parts of Canada.
